A good business partner can make the difference between a wildly successful business and one that dredges on making little progress. When harmony is attained and a goal is aimed for, one partner can push the next to achieve greatness.
Typically, favorable partnerships don’t happen accidentally. This is not to suggest that they never happen by sheer coincidence but usually, they are the result of one seeking the other.
An entrepreneur has his/her mindset on a great objective and knows that it will take a good collaboration to achieve it. This is actually a business networking juncture at its best. This is also what is meant many times when a person says that they need to meet the “right people.”
Finding the ideal business partner is one thing but finding one that is as motivated, (or even more motivated) than you, is another. There are particular things to look for and certain traits to identify when locating a motivated business mate. You may not always find what you consider to be the perfect match but you can come very close to 100% and simply work from there. Below, you will find 3 tips for finding a motivated business partner.
First, take stock of your most motivating attributes. These are things that you have done that you feel only a motivated, driven person would do. Once, you have your list of traits, begin your search for a person who has similar characteristics. You can look through online Social Networks locally or even get out to local networking events. Make it a point to visit events or places you feel your ideal partner would be.
The goal is to not find an exact duplicate of you but to find someone who is compatible with your work style. You’re looking to find someone who has demonstrated that they’re a go getter and see projects through to the end.
Next, once you have your list of traits and you begin your search, you need to post ads. You can post ads in newspapers, magazines, and online social networks. The best place to start however is within your own network of contacts. It’s a good idea to scan your own networking contacts for potential candidates initially. You never know, you may just find your perfect business partner among your many contacts. That’s why networking is important.
Thirdly, you want to conduct many interviews with the candidates that you find. You should have your goals and vision clearly written out and know what the desired outcome is. You should know clearly, what it’ll take to get a project done and how important of a role the partner will serve. These things are vitally important when you’re conducting your interviews and relaying your vision to your potential partner.
During your interviews, you want to record all of the traits that prove this person is motivated. You’ll also need to make a good judgment as to whether you will be able to work harmoniously with this person. Good luck! (By J.S Lee)
